TORCAN ICI Roofing Inc. is a leading commercial, industrial, and institutional roofing contractor serving the Greater Toronto Area. We are known for delivering high-quality roofing systems and maintaining long-term partnerships with general contractors, property managers, and developers. As we grow, we’re looking for a detail-oriented Accountant to join our team and support our financial operations.
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Controller, the Accountant will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting activities, assisting with month-end processes, and ensuring accuracy in financial reporting. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to grow within a fast-paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform full-cycle accounting and maintain general ledger
- Prepare journal entries, bank reconciliations, and monthly financial statements
- Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accuracy and timely payments
- Assist with budgeting, job costing, and variance analysis
- Support payroll processing and government remittances (WSIB, HST, EHT, etc.)
- Liaise with external accountants and auditors as required
- Maintain organized financial records and documentation
- Contribute to continuous improvement of accounting systems and processes
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in a similar accounting role (construction industry experience is a strong asset)
- Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks, Jonas, or similar preferred)
- Strong Excel skills and attention to detail
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of Canadian tax laws, payroll, and construction billing practices is an asset
