Job Description
We are currently seeking an experienced Asphalt Milling Machine Operator (Road Grinder) to operate large asphalt milling / cold planer machines on municipal, commercial, and heavy civil road construction projects.
This role is ideal for a skilled operator who takes pride in precision work, equipment care, and safe jobsite execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate large asphalt milling / road grinder machines safely and efficiently
- Perform depth-controlled milling in accordance with project specifications
- Conduct daily pre-trip and equipment inspections
- Work closely with ground crews, truck drivers, and supervisors to ensure smooth operations
- Follow all health & safety policies, traffic control plans, and site procedures
- Maintain clean, orderly, and safe work areas
- Report mechanical issues, deficiencies, or hazards immediately
- Complete required documentation (inspection logs, work tickets, etc.)
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 2–3 years experience operating asphalt milling / road grinder equipment
- Experience with large cold planer machines (e.g., Wirtgen, CAT, Roadtec or similar)
- Valid driver’s licence (AZ/DZ an asset)
- Strong understanding of road construction environments
- Ability to work long hours, nights, and weekends as required
- Physically capable of working in outdoor construction conditions
- Strong communication skills and a safety-first mindset

Compensation
$30.00 - $50.00 per hour
